Moku Moʻolelo Media Training

Honoring Place. Uplifting Community. Empowering Veterans.

The cohort is in session — Veterans learning to tell the stories of the Moanalua–Keʻehi ahupuaʻa in their own voice, gathering knowledge to serve the Manaʻolana team and community. Training is delivered in partnership with ʻŌlelo Community Media and cultural practitioners, and what participants make is theirs — carried outward to a broad public audience through broadcast, a digital archive, and the stage.

ʻIke — Wisdom Shared by Those Who Live It

In ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, aʻo means both to teach and to learn — knowledge moves in both directions. Beyond media, three more paths are in development with the partners who carry deep ʻike (knowledge) in their field: cultural practitioners, indigenous garden designers, and community health partners. None of these modules are posted yet. We list them here so you can see what we are building and hold us to it.

The Curriculum We Are Building

Each ala (path) is a sequence of modules our partners are developing, ordered as they are taught. Media comes first and leads into the field: the Manaʻolana media production team supports every other path with audio, video, and production crew, so stewardship, health literacy, and garden design are learned hands-on while being filmed. As modules are recorded and posted here, you will be able to open them and mark your own progress.
