Two Ways to Support This Work
Manaʻolana is organizing sponsorship around purpose rather than price. Each track below funds a distinct part of the work, and each is aimed at partners who already have a stake in it. Support of any size moves a track forward.
Greenspace Advocacy
General support for the care and preservation of urban greenspace along the Skyline rail corridor — beginning at the Keʻehi VA Memorial host site.
Developers, landowners, and Transit Oriented Development partners with a stake in the corridor
What this track funds
- Grounds care and landscape maintenance at the Keʻehi host site
- Native Hawaiian plant propagation and the shade house
- Water quality and soil monitoring across the site
- Tools, equipment, and supplies for Veteran work crews
- Advocacy for greenspace preservation as the corridor develops
Storytelling & Media
Support for the Veteran media team — the cohort now in session, the work they author and own, and the festival that work is building toward.
Media, broadcast, cultural, and visitor-industry partners
What this track funds
- Post-production for Veteran-authored work: editing, captioning, music licensing
- Camera, audio, and editing equipment for the media team
- Distribution through ʻŌlelo Community Media and public broadcast channels
- A digital archive of the moʻolelo of the Moanalua–Keʻehi ahupuaʻa
- Makaifest — staging, screening, and production costs
Down the Corridor
Makaifest convenes September 27, 2027 at Keʻehi Lagoon Memorial. Our ambition is to carry it down the rail line to the Civic Center station and the Kakaʻako district — the gateway to Waikīkī and Oʻahu's primary visitor destination. That move is an aspiration, not a booking: no venue or date beyond 2027 is confirmed. Storytelling sponsors help us build toward it.
The team's aim is to author the site's own content — the photography, video, and stories published here made by the Veterans whose work it documents.
