Plants are mapped by GPS position across the host site rather than by test site, so they are counted above but not by row.
How we collect. The people gathering these records are program participants, not specialists, so the protocols are kept simple enough to follow reliably in the field: pick a site, log the conditions, take the sample or photograph the plant. Water chemistry is entered separately once results are in, which is why a sample can be counted before it has readings.
Only the observations are public. Field photos and the names of the people who collected them stay in the field archive. Water records are tagged for the open research commons (CC BY 4.0) as they are entered. Field team sign-in

Convened August 5, 2026
The first Moku Moʻolelo cohort has convened and is in session. Veterans are learning video production, audio storytelling, and digital media with ʻŌlelo Community Media — gathering knowledge, grounded in the moʻolelo of the Moanalua–Keʻehi ahupuaʻa by cultural practitioners, to serve the Manaʻolana team and community.
Following the cohort
Participants author their own productions — film, audio, photography, and digital storytelling documenting Mapunapuna, Kalihi Kai, the legacy of the VA heroes memorialized at our host site, and the community impacts of Transit Oriented Development. Veterans own the work they make.

As productions complete
Finished work reaches a broad audience through ʻŌlelo Community Media and other public broadcast channels, alongside a digital archive of the stories of this place. Donations fund post-production — editing, captioning, music licensing, and accessibility.

Makaifest at Keʻehi Lagoon Memorial — a national stage for veteran-created media and music, screening independent productions authored and owned by the veterans who made them. This is the horizon we are building toward.
Visit MakaifestTraining is the only stage underway. Stages marked Planned describe work we intend to carry out as the cohort produces it and as funding allows.

Finished works appear here only after a veteran completes a piece and signs its release — this showcase makes no promises it has not kept.
