Hope • Healing • Growth

Assisting to preserve our Keehi VA Memorial host site and urban green space.

Keehi VA Memorial Park

We foster and support therapeutic and educational environments for Veterans. We envision all our urban green-spaces along our rail corridor as places of hope, healing, and connection to the 'āina.

Our Purpose

Malama pono

Mana'olana

The population of Veterans associated with some level of homelessness, previously homeless, or at risk for homelessness typically lack the resources to maintain a path of wellness and healing. Mana’olana addresses this and other social stigmas and disparities by developing and maintaining a therapeutic work and educational environment for eligible Veterans wishing to extend their wellness journeys.

Mana’olana managed projects target urban green-spaces that serve as places of hope, healing, and growth toward a better life and connection to the ‘āina. Interdisciplinary programming implements evidence-based therapeutic activities for mental health and physical rehabilitation through participation in horticulture, landscape maintenance, and other purposeful projects.

Keehi Pilot site

The Dept of Veterans Affairs Homeless/HUD VASH Program has partnered with Ke'ehi Lagoon Veterans Memorial Organization (KLMO) with a shared mission of proactive outreach to our target population of Veterans. The vast outdoor resources on the property will be utilized to offer educational-based therapeutic activities to Veterans.

Moku Moʻolelo Media Training

Honoring Place. Uplifting Community. Empowering Veterans.

A Veteran-Centered Storytelling Initiative

The Mapunapuna district sits within the historic Moanalua–Keehi ahupuaʻa — a place shaped by generations of workers, families, cultural practitioners, and community stewards.

We invite the business community to join us in supporting a program that empowers local veterans to document the stories of this place through culturally grounded media training.

In partnership with ʻŌlelo Community Media, cultural practitioners, and the VA.

The program provides veterans with:

  • Training in video production, audio storytelling, and digital media
  • Cultural grounding in moʻolelo and place-based knowledge
  • Opportunities to document the history and identity of Mapunapuna
  • A pathway to meaningful skill-building and community contribution

Stewardship — Garden Upkeep & Expanded Programming

2026 shifts emphasis from construction and renovation to stewardship. With the Hot House restoration largely complete and the citizen-science program established, this year's focus is on sustained garden maintenance, the rhythm of seasonal upkeep, and broadening the slate of programming offered to Veteran participants.

  • Routine garden maintenance schedule formalized across all bed and pond areas
  • Hajime Matsuura Hot House transitioned from build phase to operational use
  • New programming tracks added beyond therapeutic horticulture
